The University of Toronto is in preliminary discussions to submit a proposal for expansion to Brampton.

According to a statement from Media Relations at UTM, such a proposal would involve broad university consultation. The statement also hinted at the establishment of an efficient transit link between UTM and a campus in Brampton to facilitate student access. According to the statement, U of T’s proposal would be designed to take full advantage of U of T’s existing assets, particularly those at U of T Mississauga with financial constraints in mind.

The university’s proposal stems from a call from the Ontario government to address higher education demands in the Halton and Peel regions, where U of T considers itself well-placed to serve those community needs.
