Ultimate Fighting Championship World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is undergoing serious health issues. As of last weekend’s UFC 105 in England, UFC President Dana White said in a press conference that “I can’t go into details right now—[Brock] doesn’t have cancer or AIDS or anything like that, but he’s really, really sick.”
Many wondered what caused Lesnar to pull out of his scheduled fight with Shane Carwin at this past weekend’s Pay Per View. There were rumours that Lesnar was ill with mononucleosis. Those rumours proved to be true, as White said that Lesnar has been battling mono, among other things. Currently, Lesnar is undergoing various tests at the world renowned Mayo Clinic. Initial reports indicate that he might be suffering from a gastro-intestinal problem so severe that he may have to walk away from the UFC altogether. However, as of publication, Larry Novotny, Lesnar’s friend and personal chiropractor, told media outlets that Lesnar will return to the UFC when he is ready.
Ever since Lesnar debuted with UFC in May 2008, he has gotten the UFC brand out there to both casual and pro-wrestling fans alike. Lesnar had a very successful run with World Wrestling Entertainment from March 2002 until March 2004. He feuded with many top names in the WWE from the Undertaker to Bill Goldberg. Lesnar provoked a reaction everywhere he went. In March 2008, he lost his first fight in UFC against Frank Mir. But many were impressed with how he handled himself in his next fight against Heath Herring.
It wasn’t until his Nov. 2008 fight against Randy “the Natural” Couture for the UFC Heavyweight Title that Lesnar demonstrated his truly impressive skill and force. His next fight against Frank Mir in July 2009 was an incredible moment, as he dominated Mir for the majority of the match. After the fight, Lesnar caught a “heel” promo, flipping off the crowd, and provoking negative responses from the fans. For his post-fight antics, Lesnar’s name was splashed all over the media. While Lesnar’s next scheduled fight was cancelled due to his health issues, once he is back and healthy, he will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the Heavyweight Division.

Brock Lesnar is bad for the sport of MMA. There's no question that he's very big, very fast, very strong and a great wrestler. But he is not honorable or respectful. He's not a martial artist, in any sense of the phrase. He should have stayed in pro wrestling.
Here's a related article I wrote about him: http://bit.ly/ViIbR

Yes, UFC's number one PPV ticket pull and heavy weight champion is bad for MMA. Who says you have to respect your opponents, it is not like Frank Mir talked any less smack about Brock. Brock entertains, UFC is about entertainment. This is not a moral business, its business, and Brock is good for it and good at it. Love him or hate him you are going to watch his fights, and that's exactly what the UFC needs now.

Joe,
I agree. Brock is a huge draw for UFC. However, he is also over rated. This may be a blessing in disguise. Dana can have an interim title and wait for Brock to come back...keeping people in suspense. If the fight had gone as planned, I have a feeling that Brock would no longer be the champion. Once he starts fighting guys his size the chinks in his armor will show. He is not invincible.

Oh I agree. I was really hoping to see Brock go against someone his size to see if he can really match up. Brock had at least 20 pounds over Herring, Mir, and Couture, so we have never seen him go up against someone close to his size. I'm not saying he is invincible, I am just saying that he has found a good place in the UFC.
I think his antics and "disrespectful" behavior is the kind of drama that makes his fights more interesting. He is putting on a show, he is not actually like that in real life. Like, he lives out in the woods and rarely does interviews. He's not one for tooting his own horn, he is just giving the excitement that the UFC needs to draw in money these days. The Tito and Ken Shamrock feud made huge money, all because of trash talking and hype.
The UFC is an entertainment show, it is not some super honorable fighting league, the guys have ads on their shorts and take the fights that their sponsors or Dana White want them to take. I think people need to remember this when they are watching the UFC and dissing Brock because he is "disrespectful", the UFC comes pure entertainment and whatever makes money.

More importantly, who cares?

I'm sick of all this "you have to respect your opponent" and showing class and all that bullshit. This is a business and fighting. Brock is the biggest pay-per-view drawl in the history of UFC. Pulling in more money than anyone else ever has. As far as I'm concerned I'm waiting for him to spit in someone's face one of these days after he crushes them and I'll stand up and cheer. Go hug a tree, hippies! haha...ok, rant over. Damn hippies....

yeah, cool "Entertainment" but to those who agree with that, forgot this...the world of Martial arts is respectful, disciplined with true values and morals, not about ego, pride and anger. yes it is there for entertainment, but answer this...how many fighter in the UFC get a S*** load of media, are the top in the world and very popular, yet do it with respect...(anderson silva, GSP....) kinda like Will Smith said "i dont have to curse in my songs to be famous" Brock is straight up disrespectful and does not belong in the MMA world, it's not just about fighting, you have to have a certain level of class. that guy is just mental, i mean that in a--he's just an idiot
