UTSG: LGBTOUT’s 50th Anniversary: Open Mic!
October 11 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Date: October 11th, 2019
Time: 6:00-9:00 PM
Location: The Cat’s Eye Student Pub & Lounge
On October 15th, 1969, an ad was run in The Varsity seeking “anyone interested in discussing the establishment of a student homophile association.” On October 24th, 1969, the University of Toronto Homophile Association (now LGBTOUT) was born; that was the day the UTHA held its first-ever meeting.
50 years later, through many ups and downs, we’re still here. We’re still queer. And we’re still standing strong. We owe it all to the people and activists who have come before us, and the community who stands with us today.
So, we’re taking this opportunity try to celebrate! On October 11th, which also happens to be National Coming Out Day, COME OUT to our open mic night to celebrate LGBTOUT‘s 50th anniversary!! 🥳 We welcome poetry, spoken word, singing, rapping, dancing, you name it! 🌈😉 Come out to perform or just to watch and support your talented friends! 🎙
After the open mic, we’ll open the floor up to KARAOKE. 😛
Folks are encouraged to sign up to perform anything between 5-10 minutes. If you would like to perform more, we ask that you wait until everyone has performed to go on again in the end! Please feel free to send us any materials you would like us to play at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Refreshments will be provided. And since it’s our birthday… possibly cake. 🎂👀
