Members of CUPE 3902 Unit 3, which represents some 1,000 sessional instructors and other short-term teaching staff, has voted to ratify a three-year collective agreement.
Voting was held between March 2 and March 10, with 76.8 per cent of those voting in favour of accepting the agreement.
CUPE 3902 Unit 1, which represents some 6,000 teaching assistants and graduate course instructors, remains on strike.
“This agreement contains notable gains in the field of job security,” said Erin Black, CUPE 3902 chair, in a statement. “Most notably, it provides protection for existing bargaining unit work, something Unit 3 members have been fighting for since 2009.”
Black also called on university administration to return to the bargaining table with CUPE 3902 Unit 1.
“We are pleased to advise that an agreement between the University and CUPE Local 3902 Unit 3 has been ratified by the members of the local,” said Angela Hildyard, U of T vice-president, human resources & equity, in a short statement.
Details of the agreement have not yet been released.
