U of T has offered to assist university students whose education has been disrupted by hurricane Katrina. More than 30 post-secondary institutions were damaged by the hurricane, displacing over 100,000 students. U of T is providing the opportunity for affected students to continue their education here, providing free tuition as well as available housing.

Students who accept this offer will be expected to return to their home universities once the hurricane damage is repaired. “Our goal is to assist in returning some sense of normalcy for the students as well as helping our sister universities in the U.S. resume normal operations as soon as possible,” stated acting president, vice president and provost Vivek Goel. U of T will also provide aid for those universities affected by the hurricane and extends its sympathies to all who have been hurt by the natural disaster.
