Former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin donated $330,000 Friday for a fellowship between U of T and Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet.
The Mats Sundin Fellowship in Human Development will involve an annual medical research exchange between up-and-coming doctoral candidates in the two institutions.
Each year, one “Sundin Fellow” from both schools will be selected for an exchange where they will participate in genetic research with a team of top scientists.
With his new international initiative, Sundin aims to support scientific research of the effects of pre and post-birth environments on maternal and early childhood health.
