The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities announced Thursday that tuition fees will rise by five per cent for university and college students this September.
Set to expire this year, the cap on tuition increases will be raised by the provincial government. The cap has been in place since 2006.
However, despite the recommendation to eliminate the new tuition grants launched in January, the province will continue to provide credits of $1600 and $730 to university and college students respectively in the fall.
