On November 8 at 1:30 pm, the Laval Rouge et Or knocked the Western Mustangs out of the CIS women’s soccer championships, winning 2–0 in the first of two semi-final consolation games.
The game remained close, with no goals in the first half of the match, or for the majority of the second half. Despite the strong defense from both teams, however, Laval second year Léa Chastenay-Joseph scored in the 83 minute of the match, with an assist by fourth-year Mélissande Guy. Just minutes later, Chastenay-Joseph doubled their lead with a goal in the 90 minute, assisted by second year goalie Joëlle Morasse.
Laval outshot the Mustangs 12–4 in the game, with their defense remaining strong throughout. Laval will play on Sunday at 11:00 pm against the hosting Varsity Blues, who won their semi-final consolation game 2–1 later on Friday.
