Michael Ignatieff, former leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, has accepted a full-time post as the Edward R. Murrow Chair of Press, Politics, and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, starting July 1.
The distinguished scholar has been a faculty member at both the Munk School of Global Affairs and Harvard since resigning as Liberal leader following the 2011 federal election.
Ignatieff will not be returning to the Munk School in the fall.
“The Kennedy School is an exciting and dynamic place where our future leaders are engaged in the very real process of gaining a greater understanding of the challenges they will face and the tools they will need to confront them,” said Ignatieff.
At Harvard, Ignatieff will teach courses on political life, sovereignty and intervention, responsibility and representation, and human rights.
