Several fire trucks and ambulances were called to Sussex Court this afternoon after Toronto Police received reports of an unidentified powder.
Toronto Police have since determined that the powder was glitter.
According to Jenifferjit Sidhu, a Toronto Police media relations officer, police received the call today at 12:26pm.
“A letter was received yesterday with an unknown substance inside. The letter is sealed. It is being looked at and examined,” said Sidhu.
Sidhu said that there were no reports of injuries in the incident at Sussex Court.
“The University has been informed that the envelope did not contain hazardous material. No employees were at risk or harmed in this incident. The incident remains under police investigation,” said Jelena Damjanovic, a media assistant with the University of Toronto’s Strategic Communications and Marketing division.
According to the Toronto Star, paramedics were also called to a Canada Post office near Midland Avenue and Progress Avenue.
That substance was later identified as food powder.
