“Because it’s 2015,” Justin Trudeau replied boldly, when asked about his recently appointed cabinet. By now, we’ve all developed an opinion regarding our new Prime Minister’s gender balanced executive office. Some are pro-affirmative action in government positions, others prefer meritocracy, and some have argued that both can be achieved simultaneously. Now, the real question is: what does Tinder think? For the most part, Tinder is little more than a tool used to prorogue your time dedicated to studying. But then again, Tinder, believe it or not, can be a hub for intellectual discourse and political debate. Here at The Varsity, we’ve justified our mass Tinder usage by asking our matches for their opinions on Trudeau’s recently appointed cabinet. While we understood the challenge of prying acceptable responses from our constituents (and the responses do range from the highly evolved to the deeply inappropriate) we nevertheless figured it was worth a shot. Why? Well, because it’s 2015, I suppose.
1. The non-sequitur
2. The aristocrat
3. Because the Holy Father is also on Tinder to make sure we’re answering correctly
4. Because rationality prevails
5. Because Trudeau might #LegalizeIt
6. Because who cares?
7. Because they’re onto us…
8. Because we should be focusing on what really matters
9. Because repetition is key
10. And because sometimes we need to establish our priorities
Bonus: who are we kidding -— nobody ever says anything intelligent on Tinder:
