Fasiha Mukhtar is a fourth-year University College student studying English and History. She served as President of the Pakistan Students Federation and works closely with the Liberal Party.
Mukhtar feels strongly about defederating from the CFS and putting a cap on tuition fees, which she believes is more realistic than lobbying for free tuition.
“Being a student who has a lot of friends who are international students… who belong to professional faculties, I feel that that is a very essential campaign to work towards,” she said.
Regarding the Ontario government’s upcoming student grants, she worries grants and bursaries for domestic students may mean an increase in international students’ tuition.
