Toronto police have made two arrests in connection to the death of a 21-year-old woman in her Annex apartment last Wednesday.
25-year-old David Obregon Castro and 26-year-old Saria Lopez Iglesias of Toronto were arrested on May 25 for the death of Abbegail Elliott. Each face one count of first-degree murder.
Police responded to a call on May 23 at approximately 4:30 pm for sounds of gunshots at 70 Spadina Road.
Elliott was found with visible signs of trauma in her Annex apartment. She was rushed to hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead. Elliott’s death brings Toronto’s 2018 homicide count to 32.
Police believe the attack is related to an earlier call on May 21 for sounds of gunshots at the same address.
Castro has also been charged on five other counts, including attempted murder and unauthorized possession of a firearm, for an incident on May 11 in the Richardson Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West area.
Both Castro and Iglesias appeared in court on May 26 at Old City Hall.
