VOLLEYBALL
Blues volleyball teams went undefeated this weekend with a pair of wins for the women, and three for the men. Taking on Ryerson in a TRY-Cup game on Saturday, the women trounced the Rams 25-16, 25-9, 25-10 in a match that lasted only one hour. In Kingston yesterday, the women faced stiffer competition but came out on top of Queen’s 3-0.
On the men’s side, the Blues set the pace Thursday night when they rolled over Laurier, beating them three games to none. In TRY-cup action, the Blues beat city rivals Ryerson 3-1. They kept up the winning streak on Sunday, schooling Queen’s on their home turf.
Both teams are currently ranked number one in their OUA divisions.
WOMEN’S RUGBY
LEE-ANN CORRIGAN NAMED ALL-CANADIAN AND OUA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Lee-Ann Corrigan, a first year standout on the women’s rugby team, has been declared a 2003 All-Canadian by the Canadian Interuniverity Sport (CIS). This adds to her list of accomplishments for the year, which also include being named Ontario’s rookie of the year and an Ontario University Association (OUA) all-star.
The most phenominal part of this accomplishment is that Corrigan only just finished her first year of competition.
Blues rugby veterans Tia West and Hayley Lapierre were also named OUA all-stars. Unfortunately, these stars could not lead the Blues to playoff success. The team finished the season on a positive note as the Blues finished fifth in OUA with a 20-5 victory over York on Oct. 25. MEN’S BASKETBALL
In exhibition play this weekend, the Varsity Blues men’s basketball team bid farewell to veteran coach Ken Olynyk. On Halloween, Olynyk led to Blues for the last time as they took on the Dalhousie Tigers. The men came back from a first half deficit to wallop the Tigers 72-60. With the change of the month came a change of leadership, and on Nov. 1 Sherwyn Benn put in his first game as head coach of the basketball squad. Against Acadia the Blues struggled to maintain control until the U of T’s Dayo Baiyewu sunk a three with less than a minute to go to secure the lead. Benn’s Blues beat the east-coasters 64-61. Baiyewu posted 27 points, and Jon Taweel 12 rebounds. Conference play begins next weekend against Wilfrid Laurier and Waterloo.-RA
MEN’S WATERPOLO
With the Blues women’s team cheering them on, the men’s waterpolo team took on Queen’s this Saturday. They made up for their 12-5 loss to the Golden Gaels early in the season by winning 11-10. The team can thank their captain, Tom Hering, for stepping up and showing his dominance. Hering scored four goals from the centre to keep the Blues alive.
The Blues went on to dominate Carleton on Sunday. This game proved that the Blues want to keep their OUA championship title-they easily beat the Ravens 16-5. The win shifted U of T from fourth to second in the OUA standings, just one spot under Queen’s.

MEN’S HOCKEY
The men’s hockey team lost two in a row this weekend at home. After being shut-out 3-0 by Brock on Friday night, the Blues came back Saturday to net a couple against York. Ian Malcolm and George Trifon scored for the Blues, but it wasn’t enough – York won the game 3-2. The women’s team tied one and won one against Brock. The final scores were 1-1, and 4-3.
