Chimwmwe Alao is a fourth-year student at University College (UC). He is currently the Equity and Outreach Commissioner for the UC Literary and Athletic Society.
If elected, Alao would focus on equity education and repairing relationships with student groups currently unhappy with the UTSU.
With regards to the Black Liberation Collective’s (BLC) boycott of the UTSU, Alao says the boycott “has a lot of merit and is very valid.” While still supporting the lawsuit against former UTSU executive Sandra Hudson, Alao says he hopes UTSU and the BLC can get to “a point where we can meet on a middle ground.”
