On April 12, the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) sent an email on behalf of SCSU Executive Director Nicole Brayiannis to SCSU members announcing that the incoming vice-president campus life, Abdulrahman Diab, “is no longer able to fulfill [their] role.”

Diab ran unopposed with the TRANSFORM UTSC slate in the recent SCSU executive elections.

In an email to The Varsity, Diab wrote that he resigned because he did not believe he would be able to commit to the required number of hours in office: “I am stepping down to allow someone who can fully devote themselves to the role to take it on so that the union can continue to support students.”

The SCSU is looking to hire an interim vice-president campus life until its fall by-elections. For which the applications will remain open until 12:00 pm on April 21.

Brayiannis confirmed that the SCSU has already received multiple applications and that the SCSU is “confident the Board of Directors will be able to appoint an interim Vice-President Campus Life by the start of the new term.”
