Jacqui Spencer
Jacqui Spencer is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Social Justice Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, running uncontested for the position of external commissioner.
Spencer hopes to bring “strong leadership [and] relationship building,” and wants to strengthen student voices by working with marginalized and underrepresented student communities, utilizing “direct working experience with students from LGBTQ+, disability, international and racialized communities.”
“As a leader, I bring my extensive and varied 15+ years of experiences in communications, public policy and governance to the [University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union] Executive and represent through fair and unbiased student advocacy,” Spencer wrote in her candidate statement.
