The fastest killer in the sea may also be one of the slowest creatures: a snail. The fish-hunting cone snail snares fish by stinging them with its harpoon-like tooth. The snail hunts by first sending a translucent tube towards a passing fish, then, in less than 300 milliseconds, injects its tooth and releases the venom. The victorious snail then reels the fish in, tooth still attached.
